ABOUT ME

Hi welcome to Dixylan British Shorthairs. My name is Jeanette and I have been breeding British Shorthairs for the Past 17 Years, 12 years ago I purchased my first British Shorthair Colourpointed and fell in love immediately, I mainly breed British Colourpointed but sometimes we also have self British in Chocolate and Lilac Chocolate self, tabby, spotty .

I specialize in British colourpointed self, Tabby Colourpointed and Colourpointed and white, in Lilac, Chocolate,Cream, and Tortie Colors.

This year 2005 I have introduced the Tabby Colourpointed I have a Lilac Tabby Boy and a Lilac Tabby Girl, and hope to produce some kittens next year. In 2009 I introduced the British Colourpointed and white, into the Dixylan lines, I have enjoyed being a part of this as it's a completely new pattern for the Colourpointed.

I have held a registered Prefix with the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy for the past 14 years

Welcome to the home of Dixylan British shorthairs, the name Dixylan came from a street I once lived in, whilst trying to register a prefix with the GCCF, without much luck I glanced out of my window and saw the name of my street Dixie Lane, this was my last attempt after 16 failures, Dixylan has been made from this street name.  Dixie is an old english name for a large iron cooking pot which explains how a British should be large and round.!  I  found my present house after 6 years of looking for a village property that could satisfy my hobby of breeding and showing my cats.

I have lived here 12 years now.

My girls take it in turn to come into the house for a week at a time! but they much prefer to be outside watching all the birds that we have in our garden. I hope you enjoy your visit to Dixylan British Shorthairs Web Site and  you find it of interest, I try to update my nursery page as often as time permits.

This is  Zena the princess Warrior , as you can see she is loved by all the cats, we nearly lost her in 2007 as she is always stealing the cats toys, she had eaten a toy mouse which had lodged in her small intestine, 7 days in hospital.

Sadly Zena passed away March 2008, she had been with me for 10 years, we thought long and hard about a new puppy, our home seemed so empty so along came Darcy, who as you can see seems to love cats just like Zena.
